From Contact Naps to Crib Naps: My Lifeline During the Transition

From Contact Naps to Crib Naps: My Lifeline During the Transition

Hi mama,

For months, Ollie’s naps were spent curled up on my chest. His little breaths, the weight of his tiny body, and the warmth between us made every nap a moment I cherished. But as he got older, I knew we had to make the transition to him sleeping in his crib.

I’ll be honest — I was nervous. What if he woke up and I wasn’t there? What if he rolled into a funny position? What if he needed me and I didn’t notice? The thought of not having him within arm’s reach made my heart race.

That’s when the baby camera became my best friend. With the Baby Ollie “OllieWatch” 5" Video Baby Monitor I can still keep an eye on him no matter where I am in the house. It’s given me the freedom to:

  • Tidy up the house without rushing like I’m in a speed-cleaning competition.

  • Actually eat lunch while it’s still warm (luxury!).

  • Go to the toilet without holding my breath wondering if he’s okay.

Most importantly, it’s given me the confidence to let him nap independently while still knowing he’s safe. I can zoom in, check his breathing, watch his little hands twitch as he dreams, and be there the second he stirs.

Now, instead of worrying every minute, I’m using that nap time to recharge a little — which, as every mum knows, is priceless.

If you’re about to start the crib nap journey, my advice is simple: find a way to see them without having to hover over them. For me, that’s been the key to making this transition smooth for both of us.

With love and just a touch of baby monitor obsession,
Renata (Ollie’s Mum) 💛
